Devoting Life to Community Service

Azad Singh Goyat survived from a severe heart attack in March 2021. Through the prayers and blessings of his family, friends, and fellow Bramptonians, Azad was able to quickly recover. Since then, he decided to fully dedicate himself towards working for his community because they helped grant him a second life.

Azad’s heart tirelessly beats for the betterment of Brampton and its residents. He has devoted his time to serve the community as an activist, leader, and fighter. He was a strong advocate for Brampton University, and a vocal proponent for the Brampton Needs Hospitals campaign where he observed a 48-hour hunger strike at Queens Park in 2019. Azad has also been a champion for Community Safety and Security and has hosted multiple town hall discussions to bring issues to light.

Birth of the Brampton First Foundation in 2019

Brampton is a rich cultural mosaic, serving as a hub for immigrants from diverse communities who work incredibly hard to make a better life for themselves and their families. As an immigrant myself, I am proud to call Brampton my home.

However, elected representatives are taking advantage of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars. They prioritize their own personal interests and do nothing for the needs of us residents.

Brampton is the 9th largest city in Canada, and the 4th largest city in Ontario. We are the largest city without its own fully fledged university, and we only have one hospital serving over 700K (1M unofficial) residents. Bramptonians are suffering from various issues such as:

  • Hallway medicine
  • Lowest per capita health care funding
  • Higher property taxes versus neighboring cities
  • Poor transportation infrastructure
  • Improper maintenance of parks, parkettes, and roundabouts
  • Increasing robberies and car thefts
  • Road safety issues

The Brampton First Foundation was born to combat the challenges that Bramptonians face and to help advocate for their needs.

Organized Community Townhalls and Delegations at Brampton City Hall

As part of the Brampton First Foundation, Azad Singh Goyat has organized multiple successful town halls for Community Safety and Security. Notable guests include the Mayor of Brampton, Peel Police Chief, and Superintendents of Peel Police in Brampton, in addition to multiple elected municipal, provincial and federal representatives.

Azad has also hosted successful town halls for the Brampton Needs Hospital and Brampton Needs University campaigns. On numerous occasions, Azad has advocated at Brampton City Hall for freezing property taxes, Brampton University with Medical School, and against illegal pre-emptive appointments, in additional to many other issues.

To address the rise in crime, Azad has also been a strong proponent of a new and fully fledged police facility in Northeast Brampton (Wards 9 and 10).

Care For Our City

Azad has reported hundreds of dead trees to the city of Brampton to help care for our local environment. He has been constantly monitoring and waiting for these trees to be replaced.

Azad has also organised many cleanups of local community parks and ponds. He is also a proud participant of multiple community clean-up events organised by People Against Littering (P.A.L.).

Azad regularly takes walk in the community to report fused streets lights, improperly maintained grass, and other community issues including transit.

Responding to Community Members

Being a strong community voice, Azad gets frequent calls from residents. He immediately posts their concerns on social media and brings them up to the Mayor and Council Members to help resolve them quickly.
